The History Behind Cohiba

The Cohiba brand was established in Cuba in 1966 and initially produced cigars for Cuban officials and diplomatic gifts. It later became available internationally, developing a reputation as one of Cuba's most recognisable cigar brands.

The name Cohiba comes from a historical Indigenous Taíno word referring to rolled tobacco leaves. This connection reflects the long-standing tobacco traditions of the Caribbean.
